I began my software development career as an application developer over 15 years ago, most of my experience over those years was in C++ and Delphi. In 2003 I became fascinated or some would say obsessed with the ability of the internet to bring new ideas and applications to the public in revolutionary ways.
Since those first months learning PHP, I've learned that I can indeed apply the same stringent standards that my C++ and Delphi code employed. It wasn't easy and I learn new and better ways of working every day.
This blog is dedicated to sharing my experiences working with PHP. I purposely work with the most commonly available versions of PHP and MySQL, so you won't see cutting edge examples using PHP 5.xx only features but you will see real working code that can be run on the majority of hosting providers out there. I plan on sharing my experiences as a web developer looking to make an independent living so you will get to see many projects take shape and grow.. and perhaps a few die!
